So sad to learn of the death of “Mrs K” – a wonderful teacher, who helped those of us young people, for whom Russian was a strange mystery, to overcome our doubts and fears and get to grips with the language. I loved the way she called me ‘Elena’ and my dear friend Cathy ‘Katya’. We’ll never forget you, dear Mrs Konzevich! RIP

Dear Valya, such a lovely friend, especially when my sons Graham and Martin were small. I have such warm memories of foraging at Swinsty for mushrooms and returning with armfuls which were quickly transformed into delicious meals. Your wonderful smile always said welcome, as did your generous Russian hospitality. Thank you for your friendship. You will remain a warm memory in my heart.

I have very fond memories of Mrs Konzevich both as a teacher and as a warm and kind person who helped to make that ab initio course in 1975 such fun. She helped inspire in me a life long love of Russian. I'll never forget after my year abroad when I walked back into the dept. feeling a bit nervous, she saw me, remembered who I was, gave me a hug and welcomed me back. She was an important part of why there was such a warm, family feel of the Russian department at Leeds.
